Question 1: I can’t Meditate. It’s not for me. I have so many thoughts, how could I Meditate? My mind is so busy, loud and active, what do I do?

Everyone has loads of thoughts. Thoughts are a very natural and normal part of Meditation. Without thoughts, your brain and mind would not be working properly, they are a sign of a healthy mind.

Somehow during the process of Meditation becoming more popular in the last years, a myth found its way into the common information that you have to ‘control, or blank’ the mind of thoughts.

This is simply not true.

It doesn’t matter if you have a ‘busy’ or a ‘quiet’ mind. Actually in the beginning, EVERYONE has a ‘monkey mind’ swinging from one thought to the other. Everyone can Meditate and everyone can reap the transformative benefits. I have a very active mind and that’s why I love Meditation.

In Meditation you learn to work with your perfectly functioning thought filled mind. We don’t push them away, cling to them, judge them, or entertain them. In this technique, we learn to understand them and transcend (go beyond) them altogether.

That’s why this technique is so good for people who think they have too many thoughts to meditate. It’s easy once you get the hang of it. You just need to be pushed in the right direction with a little bit of training.

That’s the beauty of Meditation, you learn to transform and develop your relationship with your mind and your thoughts. This can become a beautiful relationship and lead to a very enjoyable life and lead to true Self-awareness. It’s the most important relationship you will ever have.


Question 2: Do I have to be Spiritual to Meditate?

No, you do not.

Modern day Science shows us the incredible benefits which Meditation can have on our mind, body, and lives.

You don’t need to be Spiritual, you just have to be open minded enough to upgrade and transform your life.

You don’t need to be religious or hold any particular world views either.

However, Meditation is originally rooted in Ancient Spiritual Traditions & beliefs and this should be respected.

In the modern day we can see the link between Ancient Eastern Wisdom and Western Science through the research and key scientific findings which are widely available. We explore this on the Omala Meditation Course.

Question 3: Stress? What if I’m not stressed? I don’t feel stressed.

I’m happy that you don’t ‘feel’ stressed.

But its important to be aware that humans carry a lot more stress in our minds and bodies than we realize on the surface. Just because we don’t physically feel it, doesn’t mean its not there: it is internalized in our bodies and is constantly having a negative effect on us. Actually, stress is lodged in our central nervous system, in our cell’s, organs and muscles.

Now if you already feel great or not stressed, just imagine what you would feel like if you were able to purge that hidden stress out of your body and mind. Super human? There is only one way to find out, and you won’t regret it.

That’s the beauty of Meditation, it enhances every aspect of your life even if you already feel amazing. That’s why its for everyone. It’s like a free and natural super-drug. It’s all Nature. It’s Evolution.

And if you do feel stressed, then what a relief you are going to have after learning the technique and building a practice into your life.


Question 4: How is Transcendence Meditation different to other Meditation techniques?

Meditation is a beautiful and highly effective tool we can use to enhance every area of our life. It comes from a Tree of Wisdom with many branches. Not one method or technique can claim authority over the other.

Meditation can be compared to exercising or going to the gym to stay fit and healthy for your physical body- but for your mind.

However it is not simply a ‘one size fits all’ approach.

Meditation can be described as intentionally altering our state of consciousness using our mind, body, or breath. There are literally hundreds of different Meditation techniques in our modern day world. However, they can be broken up into 4 main styles of meditation:

  • Transcendence Meditation (Also known as Vedic Meditation, TM, Deep Meditation)

  • Present Moment Awareness Meditation (E.g. Mindfulness, Zazen, Anapana Breathing, Body Scan)

  • Calm & Focus Meditation (E.g. Visualization, Loving Kindness, Metta)

  • Energized Body & Mind (E.g. Pranayama Breathing, Kapalbhati Breathing, Walking Meditation)

Mindfulness and the other techniques use the process of ‘concentration’, ‘focus’, ‘visualizations’ etc. to train the mind in attention and awareness. It uses the activity of the mind to learn and understand the mind, and make it stronger. Just like doing bench press at the gym makes your chest stronger. These styles of meditation require a large deal of ‘effort’ and this is why many people with ‘normal’ lifestyles who begin meditating with these techniques struggle so much to stick it out and reap the benefits.

Transcendence Meditation is the opposite. It involves training the mind to effortlessly turn inward and resolve to its natural state, beyond thoughts, beyond the activity of the mind. Its like training your core. Without a strong core it can be difficult to keep the other parts healthy and strong. No effort is required compared to the other techniques, and it is mostly much easier to have these deep and profound experiences in meditation. It is also faster to see immediate benefits vs the other styles of meditation.

This state of transcendental consciousness can be accessed effortlessly, by practicing the technique with the use of a Mantra. The Mantra acts as a mind vehicle and takes you beyond the active thinking mind to the part of the mind which is the source of the activity and thoughts in the first place. It is simple & effortless but only once you know how to use the Mantra and the other mechanics of the technique correctly. That is why it has to be taught over 3 days of training.

We train the mind to be able to accept, surrender and let go of any activity in the mind and body. It does not involve ‘being the witness’ or ‘staying with’ anything in the mind. We learn to by pass it all and allow the mind and body to receive deep rest and rejuvenation through meditative absorption.

Question 5: How long until I see the benefits of meditation?

Meditation and its benefits can vary from person to person. However, most students start to notice the benefits by the end of the week of the course, others a few days later. After 6 weeks of building a solid practice and sticking with it, you will definitely begin to notice both subtle and obvious benefits.

Then the fun really begins. Severe transformation occurs as your practice continues from around 3 months onwards. Then there is no going back.

We are accustomed to have instant gratification these days. Just be patient and stick with the practice and you will be flying in no time.


Question 6: The course seems pricey, why is it so expensive?

Is it? At first it can be perceived expensive. But when you look at it as an investment in your mental health, happiness, peace and joy? You cant put a price on that.

It is a very reasonable price to pay for such a game changing transformational tool which can enhance every area of your life.

The fee includes multiple days of training, continued and on-going support on your journey from Robbie, and access to Group Meditations where you can deepen and explore your practice. No more relying on technology to meditate. Becoming a self-sufficient meditator is a skill for life.

Question 7: I don’t have a place to Meditate so what should I do?

One of the unique benefits of Tanscendence Meditation is that you don’t need a special ‘meditation space’ to meditate. Of course it can be nice to have a space for your practice but it is not essential at all.

This is a portable practice and tool, you can meditate anytime and anywhere. Even in loud spaces and public transport if you need to! Bliss on the Metro.


Question 8: What is Transcendental Meditation (TM) & Vedic Meditation?

Transcendental Meditation (TM) is a trademarked, branded and corporate version of Transcendence Meditation. I am an independent teacher thus teach under the name ‘Transcendence Meditation’ with Omala.

TM was introduced to the Western world in the 1960’s by a Guru named Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and later popularized by The Beatles.

At first TM was called Deep Meditation, then it was changed to Deep Transcendental Meditation, then finally just Transcendental Meditation or TM. They then trademarked the name and have taught in the same way since. Go on Bob.

Vedic Meditation, Deep Meditation, TM and Transcendence Meditation are all essentially the same technique, taught under different names.
